Pool Table Setup & Leveling

A pool table that is not properly leveled does not play correctly, and the difference between a table that is off by 1/32 of an inch and one that is perfectly level is immediately apparent to anyone who plays regularly. Leveling is not optional. It is the difference between a $5,000 table that plays like a $5,000 table and one that plays like a problem.

Our setup process covers full assembly from the frame up: legs, slate, frame seaming, cloth stretching, rail installation, and final leveling. We use precision levels and take multiple readings across the playing surface before we consider the job done. Cloth is stretched properly, not stapled tight on one side and loose on the other. Rails are torqued evenly. Pockets are seated correctly.

The most common setup challenge we encounter is the floor itself. Older homes, finished basements, and floors that have settled over time often present leveling challenges that require leg adjustments and shimming. Greg Brooks has been doing this for over 40 years, and there is no floor condition he has not dealt with. We do not leave a table un-level because the floor made it difficult.

Setup is included with every new table purchase. We also offer standalone setup for tables that were installed by someone else and are not playing correctly. Call us and describe the situation.

Frequently Asked

What does setup include?
Full assembly: frame, slate, cloth stretching, rail installation, pocket seating, and precision leveling. We take multiple level readings across the playing surface before we leave. Every new table purchase includes professional setup at no additional charge.
How long does setup take?
A standard residential setup takes two to three hours depending on table size and room access. Commercial multi-unit installs take longer, and we schedule those based on table count and venue layout.
Can you level a table that someone else installed?
Yes. If your table is not playing correctly because it was not leveled properly at install, call us. We offer standalone leveling and setup services for tables we did not sell. Describe the situation and we will give you a quote.
What if my floor is uneven?
Uneven floors are the most common setup challenge we face, especially in older homes and finished basements. We handle it with leg adjustments and shimming. We do not leave a table un-level because the floor made it difficult.
